As a new firm, we often get questions about what we do, why we do it and who we do it for. So we thought it would be helpful to answer some of these questions online – that way, when we meet with you, we can cut to the chase and get right to what we can do for YOU!

YOU:
What does Stephanie Jones Strategies do?
SJS:
We bridge gaps.
YOU:
Ok  . . . what does that mean?
SJS:

It means two things because we bridge gaps on two levels.

First, we help our clients bridge the gaps that keep them from achieving their goals. Our skills, experience, insight and contacts help them move from where they are to where they want and need to be.

Second, by helping our clients bridge their gaps, we are doing our part to help bridge society’s gaps, as well.

YOU:
How do you help clients bridge their gaps?
SJS:

It depends on where you are, where you’re going and what you need to get there. You may need us to help you strategize a comprehensive plan and then get you from point A to point Z. Or maybe you need us to get you started in the right direction and you’ll take it from there – the A to B approach. Other clients know exactly where they’re going and how to get there but have a particular gap in their operation they need to bridge – for example, you might need a grant proposal or op ed piece drafted or a connection to the right partner or an event planned and managed seamlessly. We call that the L to M approach.

But wherever you are in your process, Stephanie Jones Strategies will help you identify your needs and develop and implement the most effective strategy for achieving your goals - whether it’s a comprehensive, long-term strategic roadmap, a more targeted plan for a specific project or anything in between.  We bridge the gaps.

YOU:
What makes Stephanie Jones Strategies different from other public affairs firms?
SJS:

There are a lot of outstanding firms out here. But Stephanie Jones Strategies offers a unique combination of 25 years of experience, unparalleled skills and a fresh, innovative approach to strategic planning and public engagement.

I’ve devoted my entire career to bridging gaps – equality gaps, opportunity gaps, gaps that separate people and communities and philosophies. As a result, I have developed an enormous breadth and depth of experience in a number of areas that impact people’s lives: civil rights, social justice, economic empowerment, diversity, community development, education, technology, etc. This allows us to offer a wide range of services while also remaining nimble and cost-effective.

As the former head of one of Washington’s premier think tanks and advocacy organizations, editor-in-chief of The State of Black America and Opportunity Journal magazine, presidential adviser, Senate Judiciary Committee Counsel, Congressional Chief of Staff, I have unique expertise, contacts and insights that enable us to provide clients the right tools to sharpen their focus, improve communication, expand diversity and engage strategic partners they need to achieve their objectives.

YOU:
You’re a small firm. Can you handle all of our needs?
SJS:
Our small size is an advantage since it allows us to be lean, flexible and cost-effective. We combine the highest degree of internal experience, expertise and accountability with an ability to quickly and economically access and effectively leverage external resources, such as researchers, writers, communications experts and several large public affairs and government relations firms. We ensure that all of our clients’ needs, regardless how basic, diverse or complex, are handled with the skill, dexterity, and personal touch they want and deserve.
YOU:
Who is your ideal client?
SJS:
All clients are ideal! But our targeted client base includes corporations, non-profit organizations, trade associations and individuals.
YOU:
Do your clients come from any particular industry?
SJS:
No. We represent clients across a broad spectrum of industries, backgrounds and interests.
YOU:
I’m not based in Washington. Can you still help me?
SJS:
Of course! While Stephanie Jones Strategies is headquartered in Washington, DC, we represent clients across the country.
